CIRCFest22 Meanjin : Three Brand New Works in Development

A glimpse into Three Independent Circus Artists’ work!

A bearded performer wears a pink plaid shirt with roses and fringing, a bolo tie with a bearded face and hat with the Aboriginal flag on it, and a pink Stetson hat. One hand is raised in a fist, with a gold pistol ring pointed at the performer.

Cluster Arts has commissioned three independent artists Shannon Vitali, Dale Woodbridge Brown and Ela Bartilomo (ARC Circus) to present 20 minute snippets of their new solo works that are still in development.

Your ticket includes seeing 3 brand new works in development, in one 60 minute show with three different styles & 3 different independent artists.

Independent Artist #1 : Dale Woodbridge-Brown

Dale Woodbridge-Brown will develop a show that is focused on both Aboriginal and queer culture. Set in the style of a 'summer camp', Dale is the Camp Leader, with the audience the happy campers. He will talk through the show, using circus and cabaret as a medium to share his stories growing up as a gay Aboriginal boy. The aim for the audience is to understand the importance of acceptance and love - without feeling like they are being lectured at. There will be audience interaction with both parents and children.
The show will be eventually developed as a 50 minute production aimed at ages 12+.

Independent Artist #2 : Ela Bartilomo

Arc Circus’s newest work "Let Them Eat Cake", dives into the young life of Marie Antionette through virtuosic and dynamic acrobatics, contortion, as well as comedy and magic. Ela Bartilomo, who has performed nationally and internationally with Casus and Circa, joins Arc Circus in this fabulous solo work, transforming herself into the last Queen of France, exploring her young life of excess and frivolity. The work is incredibly physical, full of acrobatics, comedy, fabulous costuming and, of course, cake. Arc Circus’s vision for all its work is to tell important stories through circus, dance and theatre, and "Let Them Eat Cake" is no exception. This show will eventually be a 60 minute family show

Independent Artist #3: Shannon Vitali

Shannon Vitali always knew her soul was meant for the stage. She is a trained dancer, actress, Stunt Performer and has done a Bachelor degree in Circus Arts (NICA). She has been with Casus Circus for 5yrs and has toured extensively around the globe with Casus and also with other well known companies.
We all have unexpected traumatic life events that happen to us. This show will delve into the effects and repercussions it has on our psyche and our journey to healing. Strange, weird, loopy, vulnerable but bloody strong are a few good adjectives. You cannot teach someone to be weird but life’s unexpected events sure can. Come on an unexpected journey with Shannon as she delves into how life’s challenging events make you stronger using tenderness and humour. This show will eventually be a 45 minute show for ages 15+.
